Our Flower Guild’s primary mission is to add the beauty of nature to our worship services. Flowers at the altar symbolize and represent the Living Christ as He is known to us in the Resurrection.
The Flower Guild is a newly formed committee at St. Clare’s whose purpose is to showcase God’s majesty with the weekly placement of the altar flowers.
In the past, one or two parishioners volunteered for this position. Seeing a need to share in the responsibility and joy of completing arrangements for the altar, the Flower Guild was formed. Many of the flowers presented each week come from the grounds of St. Clare’s. We are blessed to have gorgeous gardens that have been tended with great skill and care through the years.
The guild follows the liturgical calendar and is responsible for the placement and movement of the altar flowers each Sunday, as well as, the coordination of Memorial/Celebratory arrangements that parishioners pledge in honor or memory of their loved ones. Currently, the guild consists of eight members and four alternates. The eight members rotate in a calendar schedule, taking a turn in the rotation each Sunday. Alternate members serve an important role. Should a member not be able to perform their duty that week, an alternate is called upon to take their place.
