The annual Feast Day for our patron saint is always a special occasion at St. Clare’s, and this year was no exception.
The day began with an informative and candid forum with Bishop Don Wimberly, who spoke about the overall state of the Episcopal Church and answered searching questions from those attending. Bishop Wimberly was enthusiastic about the future of our church under the leadership of our newly elected Presiding Bishop, Michael Curry.
The Bishop also provided us a strong reminder that it isallof the members of each Episcopal congregation who are the main “ministers of the Gospel” for their parishes.
Next up was a tour of St. Clare’s gardens, given by our esteemed parishioner Jonathan Sayer, the man most responsible for creating this unique sanctuary of beauty and serenity in Blairsville that is open to all in our community.
During the service, a baptism, confirmations into the Episcopal Church, and receptions into our congregation were performed by the Bishop.
We are truly blessed by our new members and are thankful for them.
Bishop Wimberly and our priest, the Rev. Liz Schellingerhoudt, took turns introducing our newest (and newly baptized) parishioner, Carter Ryan LeJeune, to the congregation.
Also making this a special day was the dedication of our new organ, and the magnificent playing by our guest organist, Trey Clegg.
