The mission of St. Clare’s Youth Christian Education Program is to plan and carry out a comprehensive program of instruction in the Christian faith, in harmony with the culture, ethos, and theology of the Episcopal Church.
Lessons are based on The Gospel Project, a chronological, Christ-centered Bible study that examines how Scripture gives testimony to Jesus Christ. The Sunday School is in the first year of the program. Over the course of three years, participants journey from Genesis to Revelation and discover how God’s plan of redemption unfolds throughout Scripture and still today, compelling them to join the mission of God.
Young members are always encouraged to participate fully in the life of the church. The first Sunday of every month has a special sermon for all the youth and children in our church. Our youth also serve at the altar as acolytes, crucifers, lectors, torch bearers and ushers. And this summer, youth members are singing in the church choir, and assisting in arranging flowers for the altar.
The Sunday School program also has projects to engage our young members in the community, discussing and implementing ways of reaching out to low income families and those who don’t feel that they belong anywhere.
