Stitched In Christ

Stitched in Christ is a ministry of making items to be blessed for people going through a time of need. In addition to keeping our inventory stocked with prayer shawls, we started our new project entitled “Comfort Blankets.” Soliciting assistance from not only our core group of stitchers, but also community members and members of other churches across our area, we asked folks to make 10 inch x 10 inch squares which were then joined together to form blankets of varying sizes. Shortly before Christmas, we blessed the blankets that were donated to the Hurlburt Johnson Friendship House in Murphy, NC for their guests as well as any other community organization that may have a need. In January 2024, eleven new blankets were blessed and delivered for this winter.

Many thanks to Michelle Crawford who organized the project, to our "Stitched in Christ" group which participated, and to the wider community for contributing squares and piecing together the blankets. Michelle envisions this becoming a year-round project. Stitched in Christ Comfort Blankets group can be found on Facebook where you will see many pictures.
